Located in Gu Lou, Hailaer is northeastern style Chinese food from the region of Qingdao and Shenyang. Northeastern Chinese food (Dong Bei cusine) is not as strange as other Chinese styles - it uses familiar ingredients and is very easy to eat. Hailaer is casual dining, not haute cusine. Fans of Mexican food will notice that Dong Bei offers a food very similar to tortillas. There are two floors, the second floor is cooler on hot days. The first floor is great for people-watching, if you get one of the tables near the window (visible in the picture). The menu is in Chinese, so bring your friends, or print our suggested course.
