There is a weird practice in some of the luxury bars end restaurants in Ningbo. When you ask for the waiter/waitress and order coke or fruit juice they ask you hand them the cash first. Never seen this in my life before, and I think its not very polite. We are not running away with it, boys! So far I did not make a scene, but next time I will make an oratory speech to the restaurant owner about this. What is your recommendations?
it's one of those things probably just need to learn to live with. It's just a policy in a lot of places, nothing personal. when the alternative sometimes involves getting charged for more drinks than you actually had, you might be thankful for the pay-up-front policy. They are certainly not being rude when they ask you for money first, so probably best to revise your expectations. or just frequent other places
I'm sure they had bad experiences with people wandering in, getting charged ¥200 for a pitcher of orange juice, and refusing to pay. I doubt any amount of lecturing the manager will change the situation.

Well, once I paid upfront RMB 50 for just two cans of coke. I would have refused to pay if the bill had come after.
a necessary treatment to those operators,at least right now,and right here.
