Gu Lou is a market area next to Zhongshan West Road. It is immediately recognizable by the Ningbo Clock Tower, an architectural oddity that is a Western clock on top of a Ming-dynasty pagoda, resting on a Tang-dynasty city wall. Gu Lou is a pedestrian-only area, but taxis are available outside. Shopkeepers here generally post their prices, and do not haggle so much. There are also some bars on the second floor, which are only open at night, including 1982, Ningbo's only venue for live music.
